Foods that cannot be cleaned off the braces may lead to discoloration and damage your teeth. Even though the braces are attached to your teeth they are still fragile and can come loose when the wrong foods are eaten. Here is a short list of some of the things that should not be eaten while wearing braces.
Candy: Caramels, Toffee, Twizzlers, Gummy Products, Now & Laters, Starbursts, Tootsie Rolls, Taffy, Skittles, & anything else that may be sticky/chewy in nature. Chewing gum as long as it's sugar-free and not the super sticky can be okay. But insure that teeth are properly cleaned afterward.
Hard Foods:Apples and Carrots (Unless cut into small pieces or cooked), Corn on the Cob, Jerky (dried meats) ICE, Nuts, and Popcorn (hulls can cause periodontal abcesses)
